The power of AND…
I know Emily has brought us back to the present, but I wanted to also take a second and reflect on the last year and all of the things.
I feel like we talk about how we’ve been stressed out and/or exhausted and/or feeling triggered and/or our communal global trauma a lot. All of these things are real and true.
This year, I’m trying to take a page out of GG’s lexicon (Gaye Glasspie to be exact) and say AND instead of BUT. If you’re not familiar with GG, you should really check her out. She’s a badass. To that end, I’m going to repeat part of the above…
All of these things are real and true, AND I still have joy and privilege and beauty and crafts in abundance. We have been given such fabulous opportunities with Fibre Variety Hour to reach out to our fellow makers and hear their stories, hear their passions and struggles and really connect. That’s what makes us so special - the human connection. I believe deeply that we are all capable of amazing things, sometimes so amazing they seem commonplace. I know beautiful people that can calm the energy of a room by just walking in. I really hope you know what I mean - a “zen human” if you will. There are people with that gift that have been a true blessing to me in the midst of the most raw chaos. The balm to the rugburn of our very caustic society. I am grateful AND I am ready for a nap (see, I can do the thing! HA!l).
On that note - Thank you (THANK YOU!) for sticking with us, for giving us this most amazing opportunity to be creative and encounter our fellow creative humans through the lens of Fibre Variety Hour.
